Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou could be ruled out of the champions’ encounter at home to Lens on Saturday after suffering a groin strain in the 2-1 defeat of Monaco in the quarter-finals of the French league cup.
Marseille coach Didier Deschamps said: “He felt a twinge in his groin while taking a free kick. There’s a slight problem. The least we can say is that he’s uncertain.”
Deschamps’ side are among the best placed from the title favourites, and currently sit fourth only three points behind surprise leaders Brest.
Bordeaux, the 2009 champions, are in 10th place two points behind Marseille while Lyon are in 11th, also on 16 points.
On Wednesday Marseille progressed to the semi-finals of the French League Cup alongside Paris Saint Germain, Montpellier and Auxerre.
