(GSM) – Lionel Messi’s ankle injury isn’t that serious but the Barcelona striker is still set to miss two matches. The Argentina forward suffered a sprained ankle late in Wednesday night’s Champions League win (2-1) over Dynamo Kiev courtesy of a fierce tackle from Leandro Almeida.

Messi’s injuy has ruled him out of Saturday’s league derby with Espanyol and makes him doubtful for their opening game of the Club World Cup, the European champions said on their official website.

Champions League conquerors Barcelona will face the winner of the match between Atlante and Auckland City on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The final, if they reach it, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 after which the Spanish league goes into its two-week winter break.
