(GSM) – England will have to wait on Aston Villa’s Stephen Warnock after the left-back was injured with a twisted ankle. Warnock will now be assessed before a final decision can be taken over his future.

Warnock is battling with Everton’s Leighton Baines to travel to South Africa and be the second left-back behind first-team regular Ashley Cole. And after Baines’ modest performance against Mexico, Warnock’s chances of featuring in England’s final World Cup squad were given a boost.

However, with this injury, Warnock’s chances have been dealt a blow as Fabio Capello’s final squad announcement on June 1 quickly approaches.
