Wolves could be without Kevin Doyle for the rest of the Premier League season after the striker injured his knee on international duty.
Doyle was replaced just 20 minutes into the Republic of Ireland’s 2-1 win over Macedonia in their Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday after damaging his medial ligament. The injury is expected to keep Doyle on the sidelines for up to two months, meaning he would be missing in action as Wolves fight for their top-flight survival.”It’s his medial ligament,” said Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni. “I think he may be out for one or two months, so it’s a very serious injury.””But I hope by May or June, he can come back and we can have him for the match in Macedonia.”Doyle has scored five goals in 25 appearances for Wolves this season, just one less than leading scorer Sylvain Ebanks-Blake who has six.Wolves are 18th on the Premier League table with eight games remaining, but are just one point behind 13th-placed Blackburn.
