Miralem Sulejmani may be absent for Ajax’s Eredivisie title run-in after suffering a knee injury during his side’s 4-1 victory over Roda JC.
The Serbian international will undergo keyhole surgery on his left knee this week and will be sidelined for at least two weeks.
“Sulejmani fell against Feyenoord with a knee injury,” Ajax trainer Frank de Boer told De Telegraaf.
Following the recurrence of the injury in last weekend’s match, the decision has now been made for the attacker to undergo surgery.
If the outcome is better than expected, Sulejmani could spend just two weeks out. Any damage to the meniscus however would spell the end of the season for him.
Good news for fans of the Amsterdam club is that Derk Boerrigter may soon be available for action once more following a lingering injury.
