Inter cruised into the Coppa Italia semi-final with a 2-0 victory at home to Lazio on Tuesday, with Marko Arnautovic producing the moment of the match with a brilliant goal.

Arnautovic’s headline-grabber came six minutes before half-time as he hit a delightful volley from a corner that had been headed clear by Mattia Zaccagni.

It was an unstoppable effort that flew in to get Simone Inzaghi’s side up and running in the quarter-final.

Both sides went in for the break with that goal separating them, while Lazio came out for the second half pressing for an equaliser.

Gustav Isaksen nearly got the goal they were after just before the hour, though goalkeeper Josep Martinez was able to keep his effort out with his feet from a tight angle.

Following that, Inter got the second goal that made things secure. Hakan Calhanoglu netted in the 77th minute from the penalty spot, sending goalkeeper Christos Mandas the wrong way after Samuel Gigot had fouled Joaquin Correa.

That is how the game finished, with Inter booking themselves a two-legged semi-final clash with city rivals AC Milan in April. The other semi-final will be between Bologna and Juventus or Empoli.

Data debrief: Inter march on to yet another semi-final

Inter have now reached the Coppa Italia in five of the last six seasons and 30 times in total.

In doing so, they kept a scoring run of 10 games going in the competition, which is their longest run of games with a goal in the competition.

Lazio made them work for it though, and have attempted 13 shots in the game – their highest total in a single match in the Coppa Italia since the start of last season.
