Inter Milan and Barcelona are preparing to enter the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Germany international, who was reportedly severely disappointed to see his move to Bayern Munich fall through last year, has been on red-hot form this season. His numbers say it all – 38 goal involvements (27 goals, 11 assists) in 35 appearances in all competitions.
Recently, he has been flirting heavily with Liverpool, naming them the best team and Jurgen Klopp the best manager in the world, and also expressing his view that his style would be a good fit for the Reds. However, the Champions League holders are currently considering their options and are yet to make a move.
But now it seems that Liverpool have got serious competition in the forms of Barcelona and Inter. The La Liga champions have long been searching for a suitable long-term successor to 33-year-old Luis Suarez, and apart from Werner, Inter’s Lautaro Martinez has also been on their radar. The Nerazzurri have therefore already contacted Leipzig about Werner.
