Inter Milan and Juventus are prepared to enter the fray to sign Chris Smalling, currently on loan at AS Roma from Manchester United, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The 29-year-old centre-back is very keen on being in contention for the England squad for Euro 2020, and following the arrival of Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million, he wasn’t willing to risk losing precious game-time in the season leading up to it. To that end, he has left Old Trafford on a season-long loan, and once that expires, his future with United remains questionable.
Arsenal have been credited with interest in his services with Shkodran Mustafi likely to be moved on soon, and Roma are apparently keen on turning the loan deal into a permanent one. But now it seems that Inter and Juventus are both set to enter the race for Smalling’s signature as well. Roma have reportedly already tabled a bid, but it hasn’t reached the price United demand.
