As reported by Sky’s Italian branch, Inter Milan and AS Roma are on the verge of agreeing a swap deal that would see Leonardo Spinazzola move from the Gialorossi to the Nerazzurri and Matteo Politano go the other way.
Spinazzola, a 26-year-old left-back, arrived to Rome from Juventus in a similar arrangement last summer, when Luca Pellegrini joined the Old Lady. Since then, he has made 16 appearances for the club from the Italian capital across all competitions, scoring once and assisting once too. Politano, a winger of the same age, has been with Inter no longer than Spinazzola with Roma. He arrived from Sassuolo for just over €20 million and started just two of the 15 games he played in total, with no direct goal involvements.
Apart from Spinazzola, Inter boss Antonio Conte is still keen on Manchester United’s Ashley Young, though the Premier League side are reluctant to let their captain go and offered him a new contract, which he rejected. His existing deal expires at the end of the season and he is free to arrange a move for the summer, but he apparently feels that to do so would be disrespectful to United.
