Inter Milan are prepared to offer Italian striker Pablo Osvaldo an escape route from Southampton, La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.
The Saints revealed a couple of days ago that they intended to cash in on the experienced forward and it appears a return to Italian Serie A is on the cards.
Inter Milan have offered to sign the 28-year-old on a season-long loan with an option to buy, but Southampton obviously prefer an outright sale.
And while the player himself would probably jump at the opportunity to return to Italy, it remains to be seen if the two sides can reach an agreement.
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has represented no less than six Italian clubs in his career, having played for Atalanta, Lecce, Fiorentina, Bologna, Roma and Juventus.
He has made a total of 112 Serie A appearances and managed 36 goals in the process. Osvaldo also has 4 goals in 14 Italy caps.
