Inter have confirmed they are still interested in Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli and that they could make an official bid for the player’s services in the near future.
The controversial striker left the Neroazzurri for Manchester City in August 2010, but he has failed to justify the hefty price tag.
City boss Roberto Mancini is slowly losing patience with the 21-year-old and he could decide to cash in on him in the summer.
That has sparked speculations that Balotelli could return to Giuseppe Meazza and Inter technical director Marco Branca now admits that the Neroazzurri are still interested in the Italian international.
“Balotelli? We’ll see in a few months, but we never closed the door to him and never will turn our backs on a potential return,” Branca said to Sky Sport Italia.
“We need to change next season and find the right mix between old and new, trying to understand what will be at our disposal for the transfer market.
“We will certainly promote four or five players from the youth team and evaluate their capabilities in pre-season training.”
Balotelli recently visited his former teammates and even managed to interrupt the press conference arranged to unveil new boss Andrea Starmaccioni.
The highly rated forward was unable to hold on to a starting berth this season, but, nonetheless, scored 13 goals in 21 Premier League games.
