Inter close in on new Calhanoglu contract

Despite the recent rumours which suggested Hakan Calhanoglu could leave Inter Milan this summer to find employment in the Premier League with either Leeds United or Southampton, the Nerazzurri and the Turkish attacking midfielder are close to finding an agreement to extent their cooperation beyond 2024, when his current deal expires. That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who says these speculations about Southampton and Leeds are “100% wide of the mark”.

Calhanoglu joined Inter as a free agent from city rivals AC Milan in 2021. Since then, he has made a total of 78 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 19 assists.

Before coming to Italy, the 29-year-old spent time in Germany, playing for Karlsruher SC, Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen.
