Italian giants Inter Milan are on the verge of signing midfielder Lucas Leiva from Liverpool, Tuttosport can reveal.
The Nerazzurri turned their attention towards the Brazilian after their approach for Mario Suarez was rejected, and sporting director Piero Ausilio has flown to England to try and wrap up the deal.
With the club set to earn almost €6 million from the sales of Ibrahima Mbaye and Alfred Duncan, Inter can finally submit a substantial offer for the highly rated footballer.
The Nerazzurri reportedly aim to sign Lucas on loan until the end of the season with an obligatory €10 million buy-out clause, and chances are Liverpool will be interested in such an arrangement.
The 28-year-old has already agreed to join Inter Milan, and everything suggests the deal will be closed well before the transfer deadline.
After defeating Sampdoria to reach Coppa Italia quarter-finals, Inter Milan play host to Torino on Sunday afternoon, with home win paying 4/5.
