Inter closing in on Feyenoord wonderkid
Inter Milan are on the verge of reaching an agreement to sign Feyenoord youngster Luc Castaignos, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter will pay around €5 million for the 18-year-old striker, who should stay at Feyenoord on loan until the end of the season.
The deal taking the promising striker to Giuseppe Meazza is expected to be concluded later today or tomorrow by Inter technical director Marco Branca.
Branca will meet with the player’s two agents and as it now seems the Dutch forward is going to sign a four-year deal with the Neroazzurri, while Inter defender Nelson Rivas could move in the opposite direction.
The 18-year-old Castaignos has been in pretty good form this season, having bagged 6 goals in 18 Eredivisie games and Inter chiefs see him as a hot prospect for the future.
Pienaar agrees to join Spurs
Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has agreed personal terms with Tottenham, according to Daily Mirror.
The South African, whose contract expires at the end of the season, accepted Tottenham’s offer after informing Everton that he will not extend his deal.
However, it still remains to be seen whether he will join Spurs in January or when his contract expires next June.
Harry Redknapp would prefer to get the midfielder as soon as possible but that would involve agreeing a transfer fee with Everton.
The Toffees could decide to cash in on Pienaar after coming to terms that they won’t be able to keep hold of him, so it is now only a matter of time before the midfielder joins Spurs.
The South African would provide much needed competition on the wings at White Hart Lane and the best thing is that he would be eligible to play in the Champions League this season.
Juventus close to landing Andrea Barzagli
According to reports coming from Italy, Juventus have already agreed the signing of Andrea Barzagli.
The 29-year-old will be out of contract next summer and he has reportedly rejected much better offers in order to return to Italy.
The World Cup winner has accepted a pay cut to join Juve, albeit with a number of performance related bonuses inserted into his contract.
As Il Corriere dello Sport understands, no money will change hands as Wolfsburg still have a couple of installments left to pay for the transfer of Diego.
This basically means Juventus will sort out their defensive worries without spending even a portion of their transfer budget, and club’s general manager Beppe Marotta has got to take credit for this.
