Things around Inter Milan are heating up nicely after their strong start to Serie A campaign. Now numerous players are being linked with a move to Guiseppe Meazza either in January or next summer, as Antonio Conte wants to keep improving the squad. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, they are setting their sights on Olivier Giroud.
They are claiming that Inter have opened talks with Chelsea over a January deal for the French striker. Giroud is 33 and will be out of contract at the end of the season, but instead of waiting for six months more and then trying to get a more lucrative deal as a free agent, he would be ready to make a move straight away.
The reasoning behind that decision would be to get enough playing time in order to get into Didier Deschamps’ final 23-man squad for EURO 2020. Giroud played at the last two big tournaments, but if he does not start playing and performing regularly, he might not be part of the tournament.
