Cesena sign Appiah and Tachtsidis
Serie A outfit Cesena have signed Ghana’s Stephen Appiah and Greece Under-21 midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis.
The newly-promoted side has thus continued to reinforce the squad before the return to top flight football, with both transfers confirmed yesterday evening.
Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah joins the club on a free transfer following a short spell at Bologna and he has signed a one-year deal. Even though former Juventus midfielder have seen little playing time during the last few years, his experience could prove to be a major asset for the Serie A newcomers, although he’ll need some time to return to his best.
19-year-old Tachtsidis has joined Cesena on loan from AEK with an option to buy half of his contract at the end of the season. Despite his fragile age, the midfielder have already represented Greece at Under-21 level, while he amassed the total of 18 league appearances for AEK last term.
Tachtsidis is obviously seen as one for the future by Cesena management, but the midfielder could also play some part in club’s quest for survival this season.

Inter want Antonio Cassano
According to the latest reports from Italy, Inter are interested in signing Antonio Cassano, but the Nerazzurri would have to complete the transfer within next ten days.
The club president Massimo Moratti sees Cassano as the perfect replacement for Mario Balotelli, who is close to making a switch to Manchester City official.
Nonetheless, there are a couple of obstacles to the deal, due to which the transfer would have to be finalized in the next ten days.
Cassano’s Sampdoria are set to play Werder on 18th August in the Champions League play-off and by playing in that game, FantAntonio would become cup-tied.
Inter are unlikely to spend a lot of money on the player who could only feature in domestic competitions and that is why they have to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.
Cassano would certainly be a great addition to the squad as he looks to be in the form of his life, with his vision and creativity something that would make Inter a force to be reckoned with.

Kevin Gameiro staying at Lorient
Lorient president Loic Fery is adamant the club do not want to sell star player Kevin Gameiro.
The Burgundy club have received offers from Sevilla and Monaco for the talented striker, but the president says they have been rejected.
“Yes, we have received offers from Sevilla and Monaco. They were respectable but did not make us open the negotiations. If a huge offer comes, the player wants to go and the interested club is not our competitor, we will open discussions. But, there are still a lot of conditions.”
Despite selling a couple of players this summer, Fery states Lorient are not a selling club.
“When I look at situations concerning Remy, Gignac, Gyan or Gameiro, I think of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”. It is naïve to say he is not a transferable player, but I can say that we are not sellers.”
Gameiro has been an integral part of Lorient’s impressive season last term and the club are desperate to hold onto him, especially after seeing a couple of important players leave in the summer. Nonetheless, if he continues playing like he did last season, the club officials will have major problems in keeping hold of him.
