Inter eye Darmian as make-weight in Icardi deal

The Metro understands that Inter Milan want Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian in any deal that could see Mauro Icardi move in the opposite direction.

Jose Mourinho, who is the favourite named as the next manager of the Red Devils has been casting an eye over Icadri, who has ten Serie A goals so far this season.

The one time Argenitina international is valued at around £25m though a part-exchange deal including Darmian could be enough to persuade Roberto Mancini’s side to sell.

The twenty-six year old full-back moved to Old Trafford from Torino last summer and having impressed initially, has tailed of in recent weeks and could welcome a return to his home country.

Louis van Gaal’s side lost the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie with FC Midtylland yesterday evening – their eleventh defeat in all competitions so far this season.
