Inter Milan are lining up a January bid for Zenit full-back Cristian Ansaldi, reports Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport.
The Neroazzurri are set to offload Alvaro Pereira and are hoping to sign a new left-sided defender who would provide competition for Yuto Nagtomo.
And while Juan Bernat and Emiliano Insua are also on their radar, Zenit’s Cristian Ansaldi is reportedly their number one target.
The 27-year-old only joined Zenit in the summer from Rubin Kazan, but the Serie A side hope the prospect of playing in top European competition would prove tempting for the Argentine.
Ansaldi already holds an Italian passport, meaning that he would not occupy a non-EU spot in the squad.
The Argentine started the season as a first team regular, but has struggled for playing time of late, making just six Russian Premier League appearances this season.
His suitors Inter revived their top 3 bid with a hard-fought triumph over arch rivals AC Milan, and are now 9/5 to defeat Lazio as well.
