Serie A high flyers Inter Milan are considering a January swoop for Napoli winger Dries Mertens, Tuttosport can reveal.
Having enjoyed a bright start to the season that saw them climb to second in Serie A, the Nerazzurri aim to further strengthen in the upcoming transfer window and attempt to mount a serious title challenge.
Inter are now available at 11/2 shot to lift the coveted trophy and their chances of claiming the Serie A title would probably increase if they succeed in their attempts to recruit Dries Mertens from Napoli.
The Belgian winger is one of Roberto Mancini’s favourite players and the fact that the contract talks at Stadio San Paolo are not progressing well gives the Nerazzurri reason for optimism.
Dries Mertens never quite managed to establish himself as an undisputed starter at Napoli, but he did well to score 27 goals and produce 26 assists in 110 appearances for the club.
