Inter eyeing William Carvalho
Inter Milan are the latest high-profile club to have joined the chase for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, reports A Bola.
The Nerazzurri scout Gianfranco Bedin watched the player in weekend’s derby against FC Porto and was reportedly impressed by his performance.
This is enough to suggest that Inter are seriously considering a summer move for the midfielder’s services.
Despite only nailing down a regular starting berth at Estadio Jose Alvalade this term, William Carvalho has already managed to catch the eye of Europe’s top clubs.
The 21-year-old looks set to become one of the hottest commodities in the summer transfer window, as the Lions might not be able to ward off interest from his suitors.
Carvalho was recently handed his Portugal debut and is widely tipped to represent the country at the 2014 World Cup.
Gignac set for summer exit
France Football is reporting that Marseille forward Andre-Pierre Gignac looks set to quit Stade Velodrome in the summer transfer window.
The highly rated striker has just over a year left on his deal with OM, and he has yet to be offered a contract extension as the club plan to cash in on him at the end of the season.
Marseille officials are thinking about offering the player a new contract, but they are not prepared to match his current gross wage of €4.2 million.
And with Gignac reportedly looking for a new challenge after spending his entire career in France, a summer departure appears on the horizon.
The 28-year-old joined Marseille from Toulouse in August 2010 and has since scored 35 goals in 128 Ligue 1 outings.
OM play host to Rennes on Saturday looking to end a three-match winless run and they are 4/6 to succeed in their quest.
Lille keen on Brazilian defender
Portuguese newspaper Record understands that Lille are set to make an assault on Academica de Coimbra defender Djavan Ferreira.
Les Dogues reportedly had an offer in the region of €1 million rejected in January, but they are likely to return for the player in the summer.
Considering that the defender’s current contract is due to expire in June 2015, chances are Academica will be forced to sell at the end of the season.
Djavan Ferreira joined the Portuguese club in the summer from Corinthians Alagoano and he immediately established himself as a first team regular.
The left back went on to make 21 Primeira Liga appearances for the club, and managed to score one goal in the process.
His performances in the remainder of the season will be under the watchful eye of French giants Lille, with a summer move to Grand Stade Lille Metropole on the cards.
