Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport understands that Inter Milan are hot on the trail of Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen.
The Nerazzurri are desperate to strengthen their back line, but their primary targets Victor Lindelof and Ezequiel Garay appear to be too expensive at the moment.
As a result, new coach Franck de Boer has turned his attention to Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen, who should be available for some €25 million.
The pair enjoyed a successful working relationship at Ajax and the Dutch tactician hopes they will be reunited at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Vertonghen injured his ankle ligaments at the Euro 2016, but he returned just in time for the new Premier League campaign, playing full ninety minutes in the 1-1 draw with Everton.
His suitors Inter Milan will be hoping to mount a serious challenge for Champions League positions this season and they are 7/4 chance for a top 3 finish.
