Inter Milan are stepping up their efforts to sign Montenegrin forward Stevan Jovetic from Manchester City, Il Corriere dello Sport has learned.
While club officials are working around the clock on midfield reinforcements, with Roberto Mancini confirming interest in Yaya Toure and Jeremy Toulalan, the Nerazzurri also aim to recruit a high-profile forward next summer.
And seeing as their primary target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is highly unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund, Inter have turned their attention towards Stevan Jovetic.
The forward’s agent was in Milan last week and held talks with the Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio, which is enough to suggest an official proposal should follow.
Stevan Jovetic, 25, has been utterly disappointed by Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to leave him out of the Champions League squad and he is widely tipped to leave at the end of the season.
Manchester City still hope to revive their Premier League title bid, even if the Citizens are 7/1 to defend the league trophy.
