Inter are set to open talks with Sampdoria over striker Simone Zaza, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.
The Neroazzurri officials are set to meet with their Sampdoria counterparts to close the deal for Mauro Icardi, but it appears they will be talking about another player.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter also plan to start negotiations for forward Simone Zaza.
The player, who is currently on loan at Ascoli, has been in brilliant form this season and has seen his name linked with a number of Italy’s top sides.
Zaza, 21, has a contract at Marassi until June 2014, meaning that Sampdoria chiefs will have no choice but to cash in on the forward in the summer, that is unless they can persuade him to extend his current deal.
Inter, therefore, plan to gain the upper hand in the chase for the striker who has scored no less than 18 goals in 29 Serie B matches for Ascoli.
