La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Inter Milan are considering a summer bid for Mainz forward Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The Nerazzurri are in the market for a new striker, with Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Morata reportedly their primary targets.
However, given that it would take a massive effort to sign either of the two players, Inter officials also have a back-up plan.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are weighing up a move on Mainz striker Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
They will have scouts present in the weekend’s clash between Hoffenheim and Mainz, which is enough to suggest their interest is serious.
Choupo-Moting, 24, has scored a total of 18 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances for the Coface Arena outfit, and has bagged three goals in last three league fixtures.
Having slipped outside the European positions following a draw with Hertha, Mainz are priced at 23/10 to return to winning ways against Hoffenheim.
