Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Inter are planning an ambitious assault on Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
The Neroazzurri are determined to add some more quality to the centre of the park and they believe the former Tottenham star would be a an ideal midfielder partner for Mateo Kovacic.
The two players have already established a great partnership in the Croatia national team and could be reunited at Giuseppe Meazza.
Modric could be the first high profile player to leave Santiago Bernabeu in the summer as the squad are likely to be subject of a major overhaul when Jose Mourinho leaves.
The 27-year-old is not too happy at playing second fiddle to Sami Khedira and could be interested in a summer exit.
Modric only joined Real Madrid last summer from Tottenham, but he has utterly failed to prove his worth in Spanish La Liga.
Verratti in talks with Real Madrid
Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, according to L’Equipe.
Los Blancos officials are looking to shake up the squad in the summer with Jose Mourinho likely to leave at the end of the current campaign.
Even if they have yet to choose his replacement, they are already working on reinforcements for the 2013/2014 season.
French newspaper L’Equipe has suggested that Real Madrid chiefs have met with the agent of Marco Verratti with a view of luring the Italian to Santiago Bernabeu.
PSG snatched the youngster from under the noses of top Italian clubs last summer, and the player has since impressed at Parc des Princes.
The Saints now face a real battle on their hands to keep hold of their prized asset, with the 20-year-old likely to be interested in a switch to Real Madrid.
Leverkusen interest in Aubameyang confirmed
Bayer Leverkusen have enquired about Saint Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the player’s official representative.
The Gabonese striker is one of the most sought-after players at the moment, with a number of Europe’s top clubs expressing interest in his services.
Bayer Leverkusen are the latest high-profile side to have been linked with the talented forward as they prepare for life without Stefan Kiessling.
Aubameyang’s agent Oscar Damiani has confirmed reports linking the Bundesliga side with a summer move for his client.
“Rudi Voller (Bayer sporting director) called me once. In addition to other players, they are also looking at Aubameyang,” Damiani confessed to Bild.
Saint Etienne are prepared to cash in on the 23-year-old, but their €15 million asking price may prove to be a stumbling block to any deal.
Aubameyang, however, seems to have done enough to justify the hefty price tag, having registered 19 goals in 33 Ligue 1 matches this term.
