Inter line up Forlan to replace Eto’o
Inter Milan want Atletico Madrid forward Diego Forlan to replace Anzhi-bound Samuel Eto’o, El Mundo Deportivo reports.
Inter star striker Samuel Eto’o is set to complete a move to Russian Premier League side Anzhi and the Neroazzurri are now desperate to find a replacement for the Cameroonian.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Inter are preparing a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.
The Uruguayan was looking to leave Vicente Calderon at the start of the summer, but he has recently hinted that he could stay at the club after all.
However, with Atletico expected to complete a transfer of Radamel Falcao Garcia in the next few days, Forlan could again be made available for sale.
The Uruguayan has two more years left on his contract and a release clause of €36 million, but Inter are not prepared to offer more than €10 million.
Inter transfer guru Marco Branca has reportedly held the first meeting with the player’s representative Daniel Bolotnicoff, with the negotiations set to be resumed later this week.
The two parties have agreed on a €4 million wage per season, and all that’s left is for the clubs to agree on a transfer fee.
Liverpool in shock swoop for Paddy McCourt
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is weighing up a move for Celtic midfielder Paddy McCourt, according to Daily Mirror.
The Reds have started the season slowly, as they could only muster a 1:1 draw with Sunderland, and are now looking to add at least one more player to the squad before the transfer window closes.
According to Daily Mirror, Kenny Dalglish is now pondering a controversial move for Celtic winger Paddy McCourt.
The Northern Irish midfielder is regarded as a very talented but also highly inconsistent player, which is the main reason why he is unable to hold on to a starting place at Parkhead.
Nevertheless, the Liverpool boss believes that McCourt would be a great impact player for the Reds and could instruct club chiefs to make a formal offer for the player’s services.
The 27-year-old has had mixed success during his stay at Celtic, but still managed to score 10 goals in 51 appearances, while he recently scored his first goals for Northern Ireland national team.
French forward trying to force transfer to Newcastle
Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga has expressed his desire to join Newcastle amidst interest from the Magpies.
The premiership side have offered Sochaux €8 million for the player’s services, but they are still waiting for a response from president Alexandre Lacombe.
The 23-year-old striker has three years left on his contract, but is desperate to grab this opportunity with both hands.
He has even boycotted the match against Caen, requesting that the club accept an offer from Newcastle.
“I want to join Newcastle. I met with them, they want me and it’s not just any club,” Maiga told L’Equipe.
“England is a dream. I want to leave, it’s necessary that the president agrees to negotiate.”
Maiga is keen on joining the Magpies, but he would be prepared to honour his contract should Sochaux reject Newcastle bid.
“I do not want to quarrel with Sochaux. I will respect my contract, I’m ready to play and I will be 100%, but it is necessary that the president discusses my transfer.”
