While the future of Lionel Messi was uncertain, a majority of media outlets didn’t think Inter Miami really stood a chance to sign the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, with his other options including an extremely lucrative move to Saudi Arabia and an emotional return to Barcelona.
But the MLS side emerged as the winners of that race, and they obviously felt a need to show the doubters how wrong they were.
