Inter Milan chairman Erick Thohir is set to invest in an English club as he continues to expand his empire across the world of football. Alas, it’s not the club you’d probably have thought – because he’ll be investing in Oxford United. The unlikely club have been slowly building themselves up over the course of the last few decades, although they are currently struggling down in League One.
Thohir previously owned DC United, and also seems intent on making his mark in other realms across the beautiful game. It seems as if he sees some potential in Oxford as a club, and given that Inter are slowly enjoying a resurgence, there could be some good to come out of the potential move.
Either way it’s an intriguing story, and it’s worth keeping an eye on given just how unusual it is. Oxford will return to action tomorrow night against Manchester City in the League Cup.
