Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport understands that Inter Milan are in advanced talks with PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
The Argentina international has already decided to leave the Saints when his contract expires in the summer, with quite a few top clubs now after his signature.
Nevertheless, the latest reports seem to suggest that long-term admirers Inter Milan are in pole position at the moment.
The Nerazzurri legend Javier Zanetti, acting as the club vice-president, is in charge of the negotiations, and it is believed that he will eventually succeed in persuading Lavezzi to join.
Inter Milan have experienced all sorts of problems up front this season and they could really use a player like Lavezzi in the side, even though they did well to sign Eder from Sampdoria.
In spite of struggling for playing time at Parc des Princes of late, the Argentine forward is still held in high regard by top European clubs.
