Italian giants Inter Milan have moved to confirm interest in Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The German footballer is nearing the Emirates exit as his current deal is due to expire in June and there is no agreement on a new contract on the horizon.
With Arsenal not willing to sell, chances are that Ozil will leave on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign and it appears that Inter Milan are one of the interested sides.
The Nerazzurri chairman Erick Thohir has confirmed the club’s interest in the attacking midfielder, but virtually ruled out a January assault.
‘He (Ozil) is definitely one of those players we are looking at but the last January signings of (Lukas) Podolski and (Xherdan) Shaqiri proves winter signings can fail to live up to expectations,’ Thohir said.
Mesut Ozil, 28, produced 32 goals and 57 assists in 166 competitive outings for Arsenal, but he has been disappointed by club’s failure to challenge for major honours and looks set to leave for greener pastures.
