Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan are said to be tracking Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to the Spanish media outlet Sport.
Having already signed Frenkie de Jong who is eyed as a long-term successor of the Croatian midfielder, the Blaugrana will reconsider their position on Rakitic come the end of the season and Inter Milan are keeping a close eye on things, ready to make a move in the summer.
Rakitic has been crystal clear about having no intention of leaving Barcelona and will fight for his place in the team despite Barcelona’s continued efforts to rejuvenate the squad.
The Croatian midfield maestro has been a key figure in Barcelona squad ever since joining the club from Sevilla in 2014, helping the Catalans to three La Liga titles and further four Copa del Rey trophies. He also lifted the Champions League trophy in 2015, while also winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup the same year.
