Inter Milan have been showing interest in Atalanta striker Andrea Petagna, according to the player’s official representative.
The Orobici forward did pretty well in his first Serie A campaign as a first team regular, having produced 5 goals and 7 assists in 32 outings.
And while his goalscoring record is far from impressive, Petagna has been praised for his all-round performance and he is believed to be on the radar of Inter Milan.
The striker’s agent has moved to confirm those claims, albeit suggesting his client would be better off staying with Atalanta beyond the current campaign.
“Inter have been interested In Petagna, but his growth must be assessed first,” the representative told Sky Sport Italia.
“He’s in his first year in Serie A and did well. A lot of credit must go to Gasperini, and we’ll see what’s best for him, whether he continues in Bergamo or goes to a big club.”
The Nerazzurri reportedly want Petagna to act as back-up to starting striker Mauro Icardi, but it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old would be keen on such an arrangement.
It is important to note that the forward had begun his career at AC Milan, and only left the Rossoneri on permanent basis last summer.
