Italian giants Inter Milan appear to be stepping up chase for Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri are in the market for midfield reinforcements and they look set to reignite their interest in the France international.
It is believed that Inter Milan are on the verge of agreeing a deal for the experienced footballer, as Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is in advanced talks with the player’s representatives.
And while Diarra will be available on a cut-price deal, his agents will probably demand that the Nerazzurri cover the €10 million FIFA fine for wrongful termination of contract with Lokomotiv Moscow.
In case the deal for the Frenchman falls through, Inter Milan will reportedly make a move on Chelsea outcast John Obi Mikel.
The Nerazzurri climbed to seventh in the league standings thanks to back to back triumphs over Genoa and Sassuolo, but they are still 8/1 chance to secure a top 3 finish.
