Serie A club Inter, who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League last season, wanted to sign Scamacca from West Ham United in the summer transfer window. However, the Italy international striker is joining Atalanta instead, so Inter are now looking to bring in Balogun.

Balogun spent last season on loan at Reims from Arsenal. The 22-year-old striker made 34 starts and three substitute appearances during his loan spell. The 22-year-old striker scored 21 goals and gave two assists in those matches. Gabriel Jesus is the first-choice striker at Arsenal, and Balogun could struggle to regular playing time if he stays at the Gunners.
