Inter Milan sign Aston Villa reject

Inter Milan have completed the signing of youngster Guilherme Celestino from Sporting Lisbon.

Aston Villa were the first side to spot the player’s potential and they even invited him for a secret trial.

However, after watching the 15-year-old in action, the Villans ultimately decided not to offer him a contract at Villa Park.

The player, who has picked up numerous awards at youth level in Portugal, soon made a move to Inter Milan, leaving Aston Villa chiefs to rue the missed opportunity.

“It’s a shame Villa did not spot his potential. He’s a talent,” agent Barry McIntosh was quoted as saying in The Mirror.

“It was clear to me, and Inter Milan have recognised that quickly.”
