Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Inter Milan are stepping up their efforts to sign Jose Maria Gimenez from Atletico Madrid.
The Nerazzurri plan to recruit a talented central defender at the end of the season who could eventually take over from Joao Miranda in the heart of defence.
And while they are also looking at Presnel Kimpembe, Andreas Christensen and Maurico Lemos, among others, Inter Milan have made Jose Maria Gimenez their primary target.
The Uruguayan has already showed a great deal of potential playing for Atletico Madrid and Uruguay national team, while his contract is also due to expire at the end of the season.
Having started mere four league matches this season, Gimenez is considering his options and could eventually decide to leave los Colchoneros.
