Inter progress pleases Stramaccioni

Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni says he is happy with the improvement his team have made late in the Serie A season.

Unbeaten in six matches since the 36-year-old took over from Claudio Ranieri, Inter are in a tight race for the final Champions League place.

Speaking ahead of their trip to Parma on Wednesday, Stramaccioni said he was pleased to see his side getting better with every game.

“I’m talking about every aspect – quality of passes, concentration and balance. We have managed to learn not to expose ourselves too much when we attack with many players,” he said on Tuesday.

“I’m very satisfied by the team’s improvement during the last six matches.

“In addition to this, we have also managed to achieve positive results and this is good for everyone and for me and we should keep on working to achieve such results.”

Inter have recovered from their slow start to the campaign and winless run through February to be level on points with Napoli, Udinese and Lazio in the battle for third.

Stramaccioni refused to be drawn into whether he had done enough to be given the job on a full-time basis, but said he had surprised himself.

“You should ask (president Massimo) Moratti if I’ve satisfied his expectations, but there is no doubt that I’ve given everything – even things I didn’t know I had when I accepted this job,” Stramaccioni said.

“This is my only focus – to keep on giving to these players everything I know and can do on the pitch.

“As I’ve already said, these players have proved their value not only to me, but also to their supporters and to all people who had judged them too soon.”
