Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Inter Milan have made Liverpool’s Fabio Borini their number one target for the January transfer window.
The Nerazzurri were interested in signing the Italy international this summer, but they did not have sufficient funds to complete the deal.
However, seeing as how they plan to cash in on Fredy Guarin and Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Inter Milan plan to return for the highly rated forward in January.
Borini was on the verge of leaving Anfield this summer as Liverpool had bids accepted from both Sunderland and QPR, but the 23-year-old ultimately rejected both offers.
The forward will now find it hard to get first team action at Merseyside with the likes of Balotelli, Sturridge, Lambert, Sterling and Markovic all vying for places up front.
The Chelsea graduate enjoyed a decent campaign while on loan at Sunderland last season, bagging 7 goals in 32 Premier League outings.
