Inter reignite interest in Torres
Inter Milan are set to launch a fresh assault on Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, Tuttosport has suggested.
It is no secret the Nerazzurri are on the lookout for a new striker and they have turned their attention back to the Spaniard after Real Madrid chiefs informed them that Alvaro Morata was not for sale.
Inter officials hope to sign Torres on a season-long loan with an option to buy and the latest reports suggest that Chelsea are open to such an arrangement.
However, seeing as how the Nerazzurri would not be able to pay the player’s wages in full, much will depend on the Blues’ willingness to cover part of his salary.
With Diego Costa reportedly nearing a switch to Stamford Bridge, Fernando Torres is likely to be offloaded in the summer and there is every chance the striker will be interested in a move to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The 30-year-old is desperate to kick-start his career having scored mere 19 goals in 107 Premier League appearances for Chelsea.
Gonalons set for Napoli move
Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons will be joining Napoli in the summer transfer window, according to the player’s official representative.
The France international narrowly missed out on a January switch to Stadio San Paolo, but it appears the Azzurri are set to make things right in the summer.
Gonalon’s agent has moved to reveal that he expects his client to complete a move to Napoli, albeit after the 2014 World Cup.
“Gonalons wants to join a club that fights to win. If Napoli are built to win the Scudetto, then Gonalons will accept,” agent Frederic Guerra confessed to Radio Crc.
“The priority is to play for Napoli, but he wants a team that is up to the task. Before saying yes, therefore, we’d like to understand what their transfer strategy is.
“What are the odds of seeing Gonalons at Napoli next season? I’d say he is 80 per cent likely to arrive, but I doubt the move will be completed before the World Cup.”
Maxime Gonalons, 25, has spent his entire career up to date at Lyon, making 140 Ligue 1 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
Hugo Lloris rejects Monaco switch
French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is not interested in a move to Monaco.
The Principality club are said to have identified the France international as the number one target in the summer transfer window.
However, it appears that Monaco will have to turn their attention elsewhere as Lloris has reportedly rejected a chance to return to French Ligue 1.
Having left France’s top fight for English Premier League just two years ago, the 27-year-old has no plans to leave his current employers, at least not in favour of a move back to Ligue 1.
Hugo Lloris recently criticised his teammates for the poor record against England’s top sides, but everything suggests he will remain at White Hart Lane at least for another season.
Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways as they defeated local rivals Fulham last weekend and they are priced at 11/8 to beat Stoke on the road next time out.
