Inter Milan have rejected an offer from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Apparently, the offer was worth around €100 million, with left-back Marcos Alonso included in the proposed deal, but Inter are simply not interested in selling the Belgian striker this summer. The Serie A champions have significant financial issues to resolve and several other players might yet leave the club, but they’ve always considered Lukaku as ‘untouchable’; he’s the one player they intend to keep at all cost.
Chelsea have held a strong interest in Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, but with the Bundesliga side firm in their stance that it would take a ‘crazy bid’ for them to consider selling the young Norwegian, they’ve started showing signs of giving up on that front for the time being and switched their focus on Lukaku as the preferred alternative. However, it seems re-signing the player who left Stamford Bridge in 2014 and has since played for Everton and Manchester United, will not prove any easier.
