Italian giants Inter Milan are readying a new contract for talented forward Mauro Icardi, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Despite his unprofessional behaviour off the pitch, the Argentine has proved to be an instant hit at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, netting 9 times in 22 league outings during his first season at the club.
And having already bagged three goals in as many games this season, Inter officials plan to ward off interest in his services by offering the player a new and improved deal.
Icardi’s current contract does not expire until June 2018, but the Nerazzurri plan to increase his salary as well as add another year to his deal.
The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer, but Inter ultimately managed to keep hold of their prized asset.
Icardi was handed his Argentina debut in October 2013, but he missed out on Alejandro Sabella’s World Cup squad.
