Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has admitted that it is unlikely that Javier Mascherano will be joining the club this summer.
Mascherano has admitted he would be keen on leaving Anfield as he is unhappy at Liverpool.
But Italian giants Inter can not afford his £30million fee, according to Moratti. Inter will now be looking to make a move for Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo.
Moratti said: “Mascherano is a strong player but it is unlikely that he will come.
“He costs too much and it’s not even a given that Liverpool will sell him.
“Melo is an intriguing idea we are working on.’’
