Inter set to appoint Sinisa Mihajlovic
Inter are ready to make a move for Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
With Leonardo set to accept the role of sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain, the Neroazzurri have started their search for his replacement.
After Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa reportedly turned down the offer to coach Inter, the Neroazzurri have turned their attention to their former player Sinisa Mihajlovic.
The Serb spent two years at Inter as Roberto Mancini’s assistant after ending his playing days at Giuseppe Meazza, before accepting the offer from Bologna.
Following the successful spell at Catania he took over the reigns at Fiorentina last summer and is now wanted by Inter to take over from Leonardo.
Mihajlovic has a one year left on his contract at Fiorentina, but Viola chiefs are unlikely to cause him any problems should an offer from Inter arrive.
The Serbian coach was in the running for Inter job when Jose Mourinho left for Real last summer and it now looks that he will finally get the opportunity to lead the Neroazzurri on his own.
Mihajlovic has always spoken of his desire to return to Giuseppe Meazza one day, so there is no doubt he is very keen on the job.
Galatasaray confirm talks for Atletico star trio
Galatasaray have confirmed they are interested in signing Atletico Madrid players Diego Forlan, Jose Antonio Reyes and Tomas Ujfalusi.
The Turkish giants are looking to reinforce the squad with big name signings following yet another disappointing season and they have now launched an ambitious assault on Atletico Madrid stars.
Galatasaray president Unai Aysal has opened negotiations with Atletico Madrid chiefs, as confirmed on club’s official website.
“We have begun negotiations with Club Atletico de Madrid over the transfers of the footballers Diego Forlan, Jose Antonio Reyes and Tomas Ujfalusi,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
“The public will be notified of developments.”
Diego Forlan was widely tipped to leave the club this summer, although he did say he would reconsider his decision following the arrival of coach Gregorio Manzano.
Jose Antonio Reyes and Tomas Ujfalusi are also considered first team regulars at Vicente Calderon, but Atletico could opt to cash in on their star players as they are looking to make room for new signings.
Galatasaray have also shown interest in Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari, with the player’s agent admitting his client was very tempted with the offer.
City join chase for Luka Modric
Manchester City are the latest club to have joined the race for Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric, Daily Mail reports.
Manchester United were thought to be leading the race for the Croatian midfielder, but Chelsea and Manchester City also appear keen.
Harry Redknapp has dubbed the reported £22 million bid for Modric as ridiculous, but Spurs could be ready to cash in on their star player should the right offer come along.
Manchester City are expected to offer £30 million for the Croat, but that would still be few millions short of Tottenham’s valuation of the player.
With Chelsea and Manchester United also expected to bid for the diminutive playmaker, it is believed that it would take an offer in the region of £35 million to persuade Tottenham into selling their midfield maestro.
Luka Modric recently stated that he was happy at Tottenham but that he would consider a summer move if Spurs decide to sell.
