Inter step up interest in Ibrahim Afellay

Inter are weighing up move for Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, Italian newspaper La Stampa understands.

The Neroazzurri are planning a major squad overhaul in the summer and they are now searching for possible reinforcements.

According to La Stampa, the Italian giants have expressed their interest in Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay.

The Italian newspaper claims that Inter are ready to offer around €8 million for the player who missed a big part of the season through injury.

The Dutch midfielder arrived to Camp Nou in January 2011, but has seen his career at Barcelona plagued by numerous injuries.

With players like Isaac Cuenca, Cristian Tello and Thiago Alcantara coming through the ranks, the Catalans could decide to cash in on Afellay in the summer and earn nice profit.

Barcelona paid Afellay just €2.4 million when he joined from PSV Eindhoven, but numerous injuries prevented the player from proving his potential in Spain.
