Inter Milan are still closely monitoring the situation surrounding Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic, according to Sport.
There has been a large number of reports on the subject that have been popping up for over a year now. Last summer, the midfielder was strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain amid claims he was in fact angling for a new contract at Barcelona. Manchester United are keen on his services, but Rakitic himself apparently isn’t interested in joining the Red Devils at the moment due to their poor standings in the Premier League, which in turn mean lack of Champions League football. Juventus also entered the story, but they were unwilling to part for Federico Bernrdeschi, the player Barcelona reportedly wanted in return.
But Inter, who have also been mentioned before regarding the Croatian, appear to have shortened the list of their midfield targets to Rakitic (option No.1) and United’s Nemanja Matic, as they look to add experience to the youth of Stefano Sensi (24) and Nicolo Barella (22). The Serbian has lost his place in the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to young Scott McTominay, and could follow Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez from Old Trafford to Inter.
