Earlier this week, reports in Italy suggested that Alberto Aquilani was the subject of a bid from Juvents. A bid with was composed of cash and Vincenzo Iaquinta. It was also reported that AS Roma was considering this offer for their prized midfielder.
Thus, Inter has decided that it should lodge a similar bid. Reports on football site, Goal.com, say that Inter is preparing a bid of their own which would be composed of David Suazo and €8 million. This comes some way short of what Juventus is reported to offer (£10 million and Iaquinta), and it remains unclear whether AS Roma would consider these bids.
What does become transparent from these bids, however, is that Luciano Spaletti is looking for a striker. Neither Suazo nor Iaquinta has had the best of seasons this past year, but both of them have the potential to improve AS Roma.
Despite the possibility of a new striker arriving, things are not looking to rosy for AS Roma. With Mancini poised to leave this summer, Aquilani being chased by various teams and Totti having problems with injuries of late, major reinforcements should be brought in this summer.
