Inter are on the verge of snatching Velez Sarsfield midfielder Ricky Alvarez from under Arsenal’s noses, Il Corriere dello Sport reports.
Arsenal had reportedly agreed a deal with Velez to sign the Argentine midfielder, but they could still miss out on the 23-year-old.
Inter Milan have tried to hijack the deal by offering Velez €12 million, whereas the player was offered a five-year deal worth €1.2 million per season.
As Il Corriere dello Sport reported, Inter met with the player’s agent yesterday and could close the deal within next few days.
Alvarez, who has just won the Clausura title with Velez, holds an Italian passport, meaning that he will not take up a one non-EU slot in the squad.
The 23-year-old is basically a left-footed attacking midfielder but can play in every position across midfield.
