Inter to make shock move for Schalke flop; Liverpool set to sign Sebastian Coates

Inter to make shock move for Schalke flop

Inter Milan have expressed interest in signing Schalke playmaker Jose Manuel Jurado, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini recently admitted that the squad was in need of midfield reinforcements and the Neroazzurri are now being linked with a move for the Schalke midfielder.

The 25-year-old has failed to prove his potential at Veltins Arena since arriving from Atletico Madrid in a €13 million deal and the Germans could decide to offload him this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are looking to sign the player on loan for €500,000 with an option to buy out his contract for another €6 million.

Schalke are willing to negotiate the deal, but they are unlikely to accept Inter’s valuation of the player, having paid double that amount for his services last summer.

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt says the club have yet to receive a formal offer for Jurado.

“There is currently no offer for Jurado and, therefore, nothing new to report,” Heldt told Bild.

Liverpool set to sign Sebastian Coates

Liverpool are on the verge of signing Nacional defender Sebastian Coates, according to the club’s president.

The 20-year-old centre-back is already considered an important part of Uruguay national team, with his scintillating performances at the 2011 Copa America helping attract interest from big European clubs.

Coates helped Uruguay win the coveted trophy and was voted Young Player of the Tournament.

The young defence has been linked with a move to Arsenal over the last few weeks, but it looks as though he is set to join Liverpool instead.

Daily Mail reports that the Reds have made an official £8 million bid for Coates, with Nacional seriously considering the offer.

The two clubs are still in negotiations, but Nacional president has revealed that the player could soon join Liverpool.

“The offer is very good. Coates will surely go to Liverpool,” Hector Olmes was quoted as saying.

Chelsea sell Slobodan Rajkovic to Hamburg

Hamburger SV have completed the signing of Serbian defender from Chelsea, the German club have revealed.

The Bundesliga outfit have announced the deal on their official website and even though no financial details have been disclosed, it is believed that the transfer fee was around £2 million.

The Serbia international is expected to meet up with his new teammates after signing a four-year deal.

Rajkovic arrived to Chelsea in 2007, but spent next four years on loan at PSV, Twente and Vitesse as he was unable to get a work permit.

New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas saw him as an important part of the squad and wanted to keep him at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues eventually decided to sell the Serb after he was rejected a work permit once again.

The 22-year-old is expected to kick-start his career at Hamburg, where he will be reunited with former Chelsea players Michael Mancienne, Jeffrey Bruma, Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore.
