According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan are gearing up to offer Mauro Icardi a new contract – with the main purpose being to reduce his buyout clause from £100 million to £50 million for any interested clubs. Icardi has not featured for Inter since back in February, when he was stripped of his captaincy. The bad blood between the two parties is at the point now where it seems unlikely that they’ll be able to come to terms on him staying at the club, which is why Inter are taking the necessary steps towards letting him go. The Argentine forward is set to be a popular man in the summer transfer window with a sea of top European clubs already voicing their interest in his services, but given the manner in which he has handled the last few months of his career, he’ll certainly have a lot of pressure on his shoulders regardless of where he goes.
