Interesting transfer deadline day!

The summer transfer window shut at 6pm today there were some interesting moves on deadline day.

Today was the last chance for Premier League clubs to strengthen their squads until the January transfer window.

Interesting Moves

Robinho (Manchester City to AC Milan undisclosed fee, believed to be £22million)

The underperforming Brazilian attacker has joined fellow countrymen Pato and Ronaldinho at the San Siro. He has big talent but his mentality was questioned while at Eastlands. Maybe the Italian game will bring the best out of the little striker and at the World Cup he showed that he could be about to rediscover his best form.

Asamoah Gyan (Rennes to Sunderland £13million)

The Ghanaian becomes the Mackems record signing after making the switch from French club Rennes. The 24 year-old international impressed me at the World Cup and he could prove to be a superb signing for Steve Bruce. The thought of a Asamoah Gyan-Darren Bent partnership will be a thrilling one for fans of the North-East club.

Eidur Gudjohnsen (Monaco to Stoke, season long-loan)

The former-Chelsea striker is an intelligent footballer and will bring a bit of craft to the Potters forward line. Although 30 he still has lots of gas left in the tank and a quick footballing brain. I’m sure he will prove a shrewd signing for Stoke boss Tony Pulis.

DJ Campbell (Leicester City to Blackpool, undisclosed fee)

The striker may not be the most technically gifted footballer but he had a big impact on the Tangerines campaign last season when on-loan at the club. Pool boss Ian Holloway wanted to sign him earlier this summer but couldn’t agree terms with the Foxes until today.

Franco Di Santo (Chelsea to Wigan, undisclosed fee)

The 20 year-old striker has joined the Latics from champions Chelsea. The Argentinian youngster spent last season out on-loan at Blackburn but scored just one goal. According to Chelsea insiders they rated him highly but he was never likely to make the breakthrough into the Chelsea first team. Maybe a move is just what he needs to finally fulfil his potential.

Paul Konchesky (Fulham to Liverpool £3million)

The left-back may not be the biggest name signing of the summer but he is a reliable Premier League performer. He also already knows how his new boss Roy Hodgson works. Konchesky is certainly a better option than playing centre-back Daniel Agger out of position.

Jean Beausejour (Club America to Birmingham £4million)

The Chilean international midfielder has joined the Blues after impressing for the South Americans at the World Cup. Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has been tracking the left-sided midfielder for a long time and has finally got his man.

Alexander Hleb (Barcelona to Birmingham, season long-loan)

The attacking midfielder has proved something of a nomad since leaving Arsenal. He joined Barcelona but struggled to gain a regular first team spot at the Nou Camp. He then spent last season on-loan at Bundesliga side Stuttgart. If he can rediscover his best form in the Midlands he could be one of the shrewdest signings of this transfer window.

Who has been the best signing of deadline day?

Of course not. I wouldn’t’ve minded if he scored, as long as USA still won, but, under the circumstances. . . .
